The character artwork

The face is turned about forty degrees, the jaw and lips are drawn with clean unbroken lines, and the neon rim light does not cross the mouth. Busy effects over the lower face are what usually breaks an anime render.

Anime faces can carry more energetic songs than photographs can, because there is no realistic skin to distort.

How to make an anime character sing

1. Pick the artwork — One character, jaw and lips clearly drawn, no hair or effects across the mouth. Three-quarter views work well.
2. Open Make Photo Sing — The tool page is already set to image plus audio with the singing model, so there is nothing to configure.
3. Add the song — Use audio you own or have cleared. Ten to twenty seconds with an audible lead vocal is enough for a first pass.
4. Render once — Confirm the artwork and the audio, generate, and keep the file before you edit it.
5. Check the line art — Play the whole clip and watch whether the drawing stays on model through the held notes.

What to check on illustrated art

Look at the line art around the mouth, the eye shapes and the hair edges across a held note. The design should stay the same design the whole way through — if the lines thicken, thin or shift between syllables, the model is redrawing the face rather than animating it.

If it does not look right

• Line art breaking up? Upload a higher-resolution version of the same artwork; illustration suffers from compression more than photographs do.
• Eyes changing shape? Crop wider so the full head is in frame.
• One phrase off? Trim to that phrase and re-render it alone.

Can I use a character from an anime I like?

Only if you own the rights or hold a licence that covers it. Existing characters are protected by copyright, and what counts as permitted use varies by country and by where you publish. The example here is an original design; your own or commissioned art avoids the question.

Does art style matter?

Clean line art with a clearly drawn jaw and lips works best. Heavy painterly rendering, thick effects over the face, or a mouth hidden behind hair all make it harder.

Will it work on chibi or very stylised faces?

Often, but the smaller and more abstract the mouth, the less there is to animate. Test a short clip first.

Can I use a VTuber model or a game render?

Only if it is yours or licensed to you. Same rule as any other artwork.

Can I use an anime opening theme?

Only with ownership or a licence. Anime-adjacent posts get audio-matched quickly on most platforms.
